How dealership teams can come together and thrive under difficult circumstances – Mike Robbins

As business leaders, dealers are constantly looking for ways to build strong cultures of high performance, trust, and belonging. Mike Robbins, speaker, coach, and former professional baseball player, addresses these concepts in his latest book, We’re All in this Together. Robbins joins us on today’s show, to discuss what automotive leaders can do to set goals for themselves and their teams in 2021.

Written at the end of 2019, Robbins has no idea that the COVID-19 pandemic was on the horizon, and the takeaways from his book would so crucial to business owners. The basis for the book comes from 20 years of experience researching and working with high-performing teams in a plethora of industries. In his writing, Robbins explores how teams can come together and thrive under harsh external circumstances.

Robbins reminds us that it is important to celebrate the positive wins from 2020. It is equally important to acknowledge the hardships and challenges that employees have endured on a personal level. Dealership leaders also need to evaluate how they set up their goals and expectations for 2021. There has to be a degree of flexibility when it comes to those goals because there is still uncertainty in the marketplace. However, dealers can continue to utilize a growth mindset to find opportunities in this uncertainty.

In addition to speaking and writing, Mike is the host of the We Are In This Together podcast. Through his platform, he teaches important techniques that allow individuals and organizations to be more appreciative, authentic, and effective. His clients include Google, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, and Airbnb to name a few.
