Auto Retail Veteran Paul Cummings on Triumphing Over Adversity

Obstacles in business and in life can either shut you down or wake you up. Most dealers have faced challenges from the Coronavirus head-on and used their passion and ingenuity to succeed in the face of adversity. On today’s show, we speak with an automotive retail veteran who has dealt with his fair share of hardships. Trainer Paul Cummings is the best-selling author of “It All Matters”, and Founder of Woople. 25 months ago, he suffered a stroke and since then, he has put in the hard work to get where he is today.

Paul CummingsDealers have to put in the same hard work now Paul explains. They have to simplify their processes, keep a positive mindset, and most importantly, motivate their employees.

“Great leaders leave no doubt,” says Paul. “The thing you have to do is lead from an example. Do what you want being done yourself. So, set the tone, set an example, and lead. Cause without leadership, [there is] a very rocky road this time. Only great leaders have the ability to leave no doubt, and get the people to follow them.”

It is important to stay in touch with your customers as well. The simplest advice Paul can give is to remain grateful, cherish your customers, and treat everyone in your circle the way you would want to be treated.
