Kia America and Hyundai America both announced record sales results for the month of October on Tuesday.

Kia America reported record sales of 58,276 units for the month, representing an 11.9% increase year-over-year. That sales result beats the previous October sales record set in 2020 by 3.9%.

The Kia Sportage SUV family led the way for the brand, seeing an improvement of 118% compared to the same period last year. Kia’s electrified models also contributed to the positive results, with a 101% increase year-over-year.

Four Kia models posted double-digit sales increases in October, including the Seltos SUV, Forte, Sorento, and Niro.

Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America, said, “After record third-quarter sales, Kia’s upward momentum continues with sales of our electrified models more than doubling year-over-year, leading to our best October ever,” adding that “it is clear that Kia has the right mix of products at just the right time.”

Hyundai America reported total sales for the month of 60,604 units, an increase of 7% compared to last year. The company recorded retail sales of 58,315 units in October, up 11% from last year and marking the company’s best retail month on record.

Hyundai reported sales of 43,511 units for its SUV models, representing a 14% increase year-over-year and 72% of overall sales.

The results mark the third consecutive month of best-ever retail sales for Hyundai America, primarily led by the Elantra HEV, Santa Fe HEV, Santa Cruz, Tucson, and Tucson HEV, which all set total and retail sales records for October. Hyundai Green sales landed at 7,576 for the month, representing 13% of all retail sales and an 11% increase year-over-year.

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said, “With the great products we have, we’ll continue to compete in the marketplace. Our company has done an excellent job keeping the product pipeline moving.”
