Ford Motor Company is making significant moves to win a larger share of the EV market. However, the automaker has not lost sight of its popular gasoline-powered models. Yesterday, Ford unveiled the new F-150 Raptor R. The new F-150 will have a 5.2-liter V8 engine with 700 horsepower, and prices will start at $109,145. This introduction is the result of customer demand to introduce a V8 engine Raptor model.
EVs are still more expensive than gasoline-powered vehicles, especially with labor and parts shortages worldwide.
Ford’s new F-150 Raptor R shares similarities with previous models, but the new Raptor R has a boost in performance. Ford was one of the first electric vehicle companies to produce and offer electric pickup trucks in North America but is slowly being followed by Stellantis’ Ram Trucks brand, which produced a 702-horsepower pickup. The engine is larger at 6.2-liters and 650 foot-pounds of torque. The new vehicle’s engine is strong and was once made for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
Ford V8 engines are not new but have not been used in a Raptor model since 2014. The Detroit automaker expects to start production at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan in the fall. Interested buyers can place orders in Ford verified dealerships beginning this Monday.
