Reston, VA — Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce smartwatch integration for myVW app users, giving customers quick, on-the-go access to essential vehicle functions directly from their watchOS or Wear OS smartwatches.
Available for most MY20+ ICE and electric vehicles enrolled in an applicable paid or included connected vehicle service plan, myVW brings together convenience, connectivity and control, allowing drivers to choose from plans like Remote Access, Safe & Secure and VW Vehicle Insights when users activate myVW+ through the myVW app. With the addition of smartwatch support, myVW increases convenience, encourages daily app engagement, and reinforces Volkswagen’s commitment to deliver modern, connected mobility.
The new smartwatch compatibility includes available key functions such as Lock/Unlock, Honk & Flash, Vehicle Status, and Lock Status. Further, ICE models add Remote Start/Stop (if equipped) and Fuel Status, while EVs add Remote Charging, Charge Status, and Climate Start/Stop (if equipped).
To access these connected features using a compatible smartwatch, users must download the myVW app, accept the myVW Terms of Service, add their vehicle to the virtual garage (if not already present), accept the myVW+ Terms of Service, and subscribe to a paid or included Remote Access and VW Vehicle Insights plan.

Connected vehicle services enabled through myVW+ are available on most MY20 and newer vehicles and require an included or paid subscription, some of which may have their own terms and conditions. All connected vehicle services require the myVW app and myVW account, cellular connectivity, network compatible hardware, availability of vehicle GPS signal, and acceptance of Terms of Service. Not all services and features are available on all vehicles and some features may require the most recent software update. Services depend on connection to and continued availability of 4G LTE cellular service, which is outside of Volkswagen’s control. Services are not guaranteed or warranted in the event of 4G LTE network shutdowns, obsolescence, or other unavailability of connectivity due to existing vehicle hardware or other factors. Not all connected vehicle services and features can be used on a compatible smartwatch device, and not all smartwatch functionality is available on all operating systems. Smartwatch functionality requires compatible smartwatch and mobile device, operating system, myVW mobile app (and companion app), myVW account, and acceptance of myVW+ Terms of Service. You must be logged into your myVW account on the myVW mobile app and your smartwatch must be in close proximity to your mobile device to utilize smartwatch functionality. Availability of smartwatch functionality depends on the connected vehicle service plan you are actively subscribed to and the model, trim, and model year of your vehicle. Remote Access connected vehicle services available on most MY20 and newer vehicles. Remote Access included plan duration will vary based on model year and included plan begins on the original (new, unused) vehicle in-service (purchase) date. Visit the shop tab in the myVW mobile app to see how much time is remaining on your Remote Access plan. Paid subscription is required to continue services after included plan expires.
Remote Lock/Unlock requires an active Remote Access subscription. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important warnings about locking and unlocking your vehicle remotely.
Remote Start requires an active Remote Access subscription and compatible factory-installed or dealer-installed remote start feature. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important warnings about the keyless ignition feature. Do not leave vehicle unattended with the engine running, particularly in enclosed spaces, and consult local laws for any limitations on use.
Remote Honk & Flash, Vehicle/Fuel Status, Remote Charging, and Remote Climate Controls all require an active Remote Access subscription.
Safe & Secure connected vehicle services available on most MY20 and newer vehicles. For customers who do not have an existing Safe & Secure plan, the Safe & Secure included plan duration will vary based on model year, and the included plan will begin on original (new, unused) vehicle in-service (purchase) date or June 1, 2023, whichever is later. Visit the shop tab in the myVW mobile app to see how much time is remaining on your Safe & Secure plan. Paid subscription is required to continue services after included plan expires. Connected vehicle services are not available on most MY20 Passat vehicles. Valid in the U.S. only. Rental fleet vehicles and vehicles that are or have been classified as totaled, salvaged, or rebuilt are not eligible. All services and features may not be available on all vehicles. For example, ID.4 and ID. Buzz vehicles do not include Stolen Vehicle Location services or Anti-Theft Alerts, and MY21 ID.4 vehicles do not have the Information Assistance service.
The VW Vehicle Insights plan is limited in duration and expires based on the original (new, unused) vehicle in-service (purchase) date. Visit the shop tab in the myVW mobile app to see how much time is remaining on your VW Vehicle Insights plan. VW Vehicle Insights services available on most MY20 and newer vehicles equipped with compatible hardware. Valid in the U.S. only. Paid subscription is required to continue services after included plan expires. Some electric vehicles do not include Vehicle Health Reports and Health Status services.
Vehicle Status, Lock Status, Fuel Status, and Charge Status all require active VW Vehicle Insights and Remote Access subscriptions.
