Jaguar Land Rover shared details and first images of the upcoming Range Rover Electric ahead of its scheduled release next year alongside a new promotional video earlier this week.

The Range Rover Electric features an 800-volt architecture that delivers a variety of performance improvements and enables rapid charging. Similar to the company’s petrol-fueled products, the model has been configured to endure a variety of terrains and environments, including water depths up to 34.4 inches, although the automaker notes it is still conducting global on-road testing “in temperatures ranging from -40C to +50C.”

The vehicle will also be the “quietest” Range Rover model, which the automaker explains is achieved through “a unique active road noise cancellation configuration and sound design…”

The Range Rover Electric will be assembled in the U.K. alongside the brand’s other vehicles. Its battery will be constructed at the company’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre, originally tasked with building Ingenium internal combustion engines, marking the facility’s first EV-focused production role. Given the domestic sourcing and pricing restrictions within the Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, it is unlikely that the luxury model will qualify for electric vehicle tax credits.

In a press release, Geraldine Ingham, Range Rover’s managing director, also announced the official opening of the vehicle’s waiting list, allowing customers to place pre-orders, and claimed that the new battery-powered SUV marks “a new era” for the brand. However, multiple key details have yet to be revealed, most notably driving range, price, and towing capacity, although the automaker promises the Range Rover Electric will deliver the same performance as its previous models.
