Ford debuts expansive new world HQ designed for 4,000 workers

Ford’s new HQ is set to redefine workspaces with flexible design, brand immersion, and full-scale vehicle review capabilities.

On the Dash:

  • The 2.1 million-square-foot headquarters doubles employee capacity and centralizes operations near other Ford facilities.
  • The building combines immersive branding, flexible design studios, advanced showrooms, and full-scale vehicle review spaces.
  • Dining, collaboration zones, and Energy Rooms provide spaces for creativity, teamwork, and product development.

Ford has officially opened its new 2.1 million-square-foot World Headquarters, a facility designed to redefine workspaces and the employee experience. When fully completed in 2027, it will accommodate 4,000 employees, doubling the former Glass House’s capacity.

Developed with architect Snøhetta, the headquarters reflects more than a decade of planning to improve how Ford teams design, develop, test, and prototype products. Located within a 15-minute walk of other Ford facilities employing 14,000 workers, the headquarters is intended to foster collaboration and efficiency.

Distinct public and employee lobbies immerse visitors and staff in the Ford brand, featuring color swatches of iconic models, micro-LED screens, and a Bronco Raptor wall display. The main showroom includes 10 turntables, the Colors and Materials Showroom, and a 64-foot micro-LED Digital Showroom, with courtyards adding natural light and outdoor display space.

Six design studios on the second and fourth floors feature flexible layouts, clay modeling and milling tools, and collaborative workspaces aligned with Ford’s customer profiles: Build, Thrill, and Adventure. The first-floor Design Prototyping shop includes facilities for metal, wood, trim, and paint, while Energy Rooms can accommodate full-size vehicles for team reviews.

Employees have access to multiple dining and collaboration spaces, including Gallery Hall with seven restaurants and a Hive-branded café. Open collaboration zones, learning stairs, a library, and a Tech Lounge support informal work and team gatherings.

The building’s exterior glass banding incorporates Ford patent numbers and helps obscure sensitive products while regulating heating and cooling. Its 22-inch-thick concrete floors support vehicle movement, streamlining product development.

Ford says the new World Headquarters represents a long-term investment in employee experience, workspace innovation, and product development, serving as a central hub for the company’s future operations.
