Scout Motors, the electric adventure truck spinoff from Volkswagen (VW), is set to reveal its first vehicle on October 24, marking the brand’s return to the market after a 44-year hiatus. This highly anticipated event follows two years of development since VW announced the revival of the iconic International Harvester Scout brand as an electric vehicle (EV).

The original Scout vehicles, produced in the 1960s and 1970s, were known for their rugged versatility. Now, Scout Motors aims to capture that same spirit with its new line of electric SUVs and trucks designed for both work and play. The company has been tight-lipped about specifics, but hints suggest that the new models will feature bold, iconic designs with multifunctional spaces and accurate tactile controls, moving away from the all-digital cockpits common in modern EVs.

The revival of the Scout brand is part of VW’s broader strategy to tap into the growing market for electric adventure vehicles, a niche currently dominated by brands like Rivian. Design sketches released by Scout Motors show vehicles that strongly resemble Rivian’s offerings but with unique touches that harken back to the classic Scout design, such as a characteristic hood shape.

These new models will be unveiled as Scout continues to build its production infrastructure. A new factory in South Carolina, which broke ground in February, is under construction to manufacture these vehicles, although production and deliveries are still some time away.

Scout Motors’ President and CEO, Scott Keogh, emphasized the significance of this launch, highlighting the brand’s commitment to American ingenuity and the creation of American jobs. The new Scout vehicles are designed to be more than just cars—they represent a lifestyle catering to the “makers, doers, and everyday explorers” who have kept the Scout spirit alive for decades.

As the October 24 reveal approaches, anticipation is building, and brand fans are eager to see how Scout Motors plans to blend classic design with modern electric technology in its new line of adventure vehicles.
