Honda is urgently recalling over 187,000 Ridgeline pickup trucks from the 2020 through 2024 model years due to a safety issue with their backup cameras not displaying images. The faulty wiring harness in the tailgate is causing this critical problem, and it is prone to damage from road salt and water intrusion. Repeated tailgate opening and closing can break the harness and sever the connection between the backup camera and the vehicle display, posing a potential safety risk.
To address this issue, Honda dealerships will replace the faulty wiring harness with an upgraded version at no cost to the owners. This recall follows Honda’s similar action for older Ridgeline models facing comparable problems. While there have been 402 warranty claims related to this issue, no reported crashes or injuries are linked to it, as confirmed by documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
