GMC launches the 2026 HUMMER EV, featuring enhanced acceleration and rear-steering ‘King Crab’ mode.

The upgraded supertruck gains bidirectional charging, hands-free driving enhancements, and an exclusive Carbon Fiber Edition—all arriving later this year.
GMC is upgrading its all-electric HUMMER EV lineup with more off-road capability, faster acceleration, and new limited-edition styling.

GMC is upgrading its all-electric HUMMER EV lineup with more off-road capability, faster acceleration, and new limited-edition styling for the 2026 model year. The updates, which include an exclusive new feature called “King Crab” mode and a Carbon Fiber Edition capable of launching from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, mark the brand’s boldest EV supertruck enhancements yet.

Announced this week, the 2026 HUMMER EV introduces King Crab mode, an advanced rear-steering technology that significantly improves low-speed maneuverability for off-road conditions. The feature will be standard on all 2X and 3X trims and offered to 2022–2025 HUMMER EV owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update later this year.

“From the start, we aimed to provide HUMMER EV owners over-the-air software updates,” said Al Oppenheiser, GMC HUMMER EV chief engineer. “All 2026 HUMMER EV owners will have access to our latest software going forward.”

The 2026 HUMMER EV also introduces bidirectional charging, allowing the truck to power another compatible EV or, when equipped, provide electricity to a home during outages. GMC also refined its Super Cruise system to include Hands on Lane Change Assist (HOLCA) and a new “Lane Change for Route” feature that works with built-in navigation.

Performance takes a leap forward with the limited-run Carbon Fiber Edition—available for the 3X Pickup and SUV—which boasts 0-60 mph acceleration in just 2.8 seconds, making it the quickest HUMMER EV ever. The high-performance pickup is powered by a 24-module battery pack delivering 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 lb-ft of torque.

The Carbon Fiber Edition stands out with exclusive design elements, including:

  • Magnus Gray Matte exterior paint
  • Velocity Ember interior
  • 22-inch carbon fiber black wheels
  • Carbon fiber mirror caps and skid plate inserts
  • Black emblems and trim accents

All 2026 HUMMER EV models will feature updated damper tuning for improved ride comfort, expanded Super Cruise capability, and a 13.4-inch infotainment center with Google Built-In, intelligent EV routing, and entertainment apps such as Prime Video.

Buyers can also choose new exterior colors—Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte—and interior themes like Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse.

GM will conduct production at its Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan, where the company manufactures all GMC electric trucks. The team will announce pricing and range estimates closer to the launch date.
