Tesla switches gears with Full Self-Driving, will feature end-to-end AI in v12

Along with its internal fleet, the business started to make v11.4 available to other parties.
v12 FSD Beta

For the FSD Beta v12, Tesla intends to enhance its self-driving system using end-to-end AI. Although the FSD Beta already has AI, it’s only utilized to assist vehicles in detecting their surroundings.

Driving actions like steering and acceleration are still performed via computer programming methods.

Musk mentioned another v12 release that will include “end-to-end AI” in a statement pushing FSD Beta improvements in the next v11.4 edition, arguing that “v11.4 should probably be v12.0, given many significant improvements.

Along with its internal fleet, the business started to make v11.4 available to other parties. Musk hasn’t specified a release date, but he does think Tesla can achieve “full autonomy” this year. The next upgrade would also use neural networks to develop complete solutions.

Tesla started releasing new software upgrades every two weeks when it initially allowed owners to test its FSD beta package on public roads. However, because they were frequently delayed, the updates stopped occurring regularly.

This does not suggest that there haven’t been any updates; instead, they have become unpredictable.

To illustrate, the release of FSD beta version 11—meant to represent a significant turning point—was postponed for several months. Tesla eventually launched it relatively recently and has since updated it a few times. It was supposed to be unique because it marries the Autopilot highway driving tech with FSD beta for city streets, combining them into a single software stack.

Although the FSD Beta v12 is in the pipeline, we still see updates to the 11. Musk tweeted about these major upgrades and stated that 11.4 is a significant improvement.
