Stellantis, Honda post Q3 sales results as hybrids and key models drive growth

On the Dash:

  • Stellantis sales rose 3% year-to-date, with Ram, Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge models contributing to third-quarter gains.
  • American Honda sales increased 4.7% year to date, with September sales up 15.9% despite low inventories.
  • Honda hybrids and passenger cars drove strong gains, while Acura SUVs and gateway models also posted double-digit growth.

As October 1 marked the first day of Q4, several automakers reported their third-quarter results. With that, Stellantis reported flat Q3 sales and a 3% year-to-date increase, while American Honda gained 4.7% through September as hybrids, passenger cars and several high-volume models posted strong results.

Stellantis leans on Ram while Jeep slows

According to Stellantis, it sold 958,463 vehicles year to date, a 3% increase compared with the first three quarters of 2025. Q3 sales held steady at 324,277 vehicles, essentially unchanged from the same period last year. Michael Orange, Head of U.S. Retail Sales and Network Performance, said the company’s dealer network continued to drive its retail business in a highly competitive industry.

Ram 1500 retail sales surged 42%, while total Ram 1500 sales jumped 73% and total Ram brand sales rose 29%. Total pickup sales climbed 34%, and retail sales also increased for the Dodge Durango (18%), Jeep Grand Wagoneer (14%), and Chrysler Pacifica (7%). During the quarter, orders opened for the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee 5.7L, and the initial 2026 allocation sold out in 90 minutes. The Rumble Bee is expected to arrive at dealerships later in Q4 this year.

Meanwhile, results varied across the other brands, with Jeep Wrangler total sales increasing 5% in Q3, and Cherokee hybrid retail sales rose 53% from Q2 to post the model’s best retail sales month in September. Even so, total Jeep brand sales fell 20% in the quarter. Chrysler Pacifica sales grew 6%, matching the 6% increase in total Chrysler brand sales. Dodge total sales climbed 2%, with Charger retail sales up 22%, and the Durango posted its best Q3 total sales since 2005.

Honda posts gains across the lineup

Separately, American Honda reportedly sold 1,149,261 vehicles in the first nine months of 2026, up 4.7%. September sales reached 121,796, up 15.9%, and Q3 sales rose 9.3% to 392,341 vehicles. The automaker said those results marked its best September since 2020 and best third quarter since 2019. The Honda brand sold 1,045,593 vehicles year to date, up 4.7%, and its passenger car sales rose 16.5% year to date and 20.9% in Q3. Those gains came even though inventory remains low at 16 to 17 days for key models.

Despite tight supply, CR-V sales rose 21.9% in September and 16.6% in Q3. Hybrids accounted for 53% of CR-V sales, setting records in both periods. Passport sales increased 19.5% in September and 14.1% year to date, with Q3 becoming the model’s best quarter ever. Honda’s light-truck sales also had their best September, growing 16.5%. Among cars, the Civic hybrid accounted for 35% of Civic sales in September, while Accord sales jumped 27.7%.

Acura sales increased 4.4% in September and 9.9% in Q3. The ADX and Integra together drove 24% growth in Q3, while Integra sales rose 37.3% year to date and 27.5% in Q3. Acura SUV sales grew 17.9% in Q3, led by the MDX, which was up 63.4% in September and 63.5% in Q3.

Looking at what drove results, Stellantis credited its dealer network for its retail performance. American Honda pointed to affordability, record hybrid sales and a balanced lineup of passenger cars and light trucks. Honda also said sustained demand is creating inventory challenges for several models.
