Keeping continuity within a dealership has possibly never been more difficult. Personnel decisions can make or break the opportunity for substantial growth. For Mario Murgado, President and CEO of Murgado Automotive Group, keeping all personnel during the pandemic has been a point of emphasis for his dealership. We caught up with Mario to discuss Murgado Automotive’s recent expansion, staffing strategy, and keys to success.
Like almost all dealers across the country, Mario Murgado didn’t know what to think when the Coronavirus first hit. It was an unprecedented situation, and he had to make instinctual decisions. One of those decisions was to retain all of his staff.
“You can’t play offense without a team,” says Mario. “We don’t want to be in a position where we have to play defense, because then you can’t score any points. We made that decision early on.”
In addition to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Murgado Automotive Group also made some strides in further developing business operations like digital retailing and home delivery. The urgency created by the crisis sped these initiatives and found positive results.
Mario says, “Our business is a beautiful business. Our business is an important business. Our business is part of the fabric of this country, and it moves this country.”
