A newly redesigned Silverado pickup arrives as GM doubles down on full-size truck production and investment in internal-combustion powertrains.

On the Dash:

  • Chevrolet unveils the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, with new next-gen 5.7L and 6.6L V8 engines
  • Seven trims now include three lifted models, expanding Chevrolet’s off-road truck options.
  • Super Cruise adds hands-free trailering, a segment-exclusive feature across the new lineup.

Chevrolet has unveiled the all-new 2027 Silverado 1500, introducing new V8 engines, a redesigned exterior, upgraded technology and an expanded off-road lineup. The automaker calls it the most advanced Silverado yet, with the truck expected to arrive in dealerships later this year.

The Silverado’s debut comes as General Motors (GM) continues to invest heavily in its full-size truck business. Earlier this month, the automaker announced plans to build gas-powered Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups at its Orion Assembly plant after abandoning plans for exclusive EV production there. The move underscores GM’s confidence in continued demand for traditional pickups and its commitment to internal-combustion truck platforms.

The 2027 Silverado will continue to offer four powertrain choices. The lineup is headlined by new 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines, alongside an updated 2.7-liter TurboMax engine now paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet will also continue offering the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel.

Chevrolet says the new lineup includes the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the segment. Every Silverado will receive a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital driver display.

Available features include a passenger-side screen, dual wireless charging pads and a head-up display. Super Cruise with trailering capability also returns, giving Chevrolet a key technology advantage in the competitive full-size pickup market.

The upgrades are expected to appeal to buyers considering higher-end offerings from Ford and Ram.

Chevrolet continues to capitalize on demand for off-road pickups with Trail Boss, Custom Trail Boss and ZR2 models. The ZR2 adds 35-inch tires, front and rear locking differentials and Multimatic DSSV dampers, while the AEV-developed ZR2 Bison package returns for customers seeking additional capability.

The Silverado’s Work Truck trim will continue serving commercial and fleet buyers with an emphasis on durability, serviceability and upfit compatibility. New digital displays and connectivity features are designed to support fleet management while preserving the truck’s work-focused mission.

Pricing and additional availability details will be announced later this year.
