Lotlinx launches LotGPT, a free AI advisor tailored for car dealerships- Lance Schafer & Len Short

Executive VP Lance Schaefer and Executive Chairman Len Short unveil a dealership-specific AI tool to optimize inventory, pricing, and daily operations.

Lotlinx has launched LotGPT, an AI-powered tool designed specifically for car dealerships to streamline inventory management, optimize pricing strategies, and provide actionable insights for daily operations. Joining us on the latest episode of Inside Automotive to break down how LotGPT works and what it means for dealers are Lotlinx’s Executive VP and GM of Product & Technology, Lance Schafer, and Executive Chairman Len Short.

Unlike general-purpose AI platforms such as ChatGPT, LotGPT is built exclusively for dealerships, allowing them to safely leverage their proprietary data while generating precise recommendations for inventory, pricing, and operations. During its pilot phase, the platform processed over 150,000 dealer queries, with hundreds of dealerships contributing feedback to fine-tune its capabilities.

“These broader chatbots like ChatGPT are helpful, obviously… but dealers need a safe place for their data.” - Lance Schafer.

A tool built for dealers

LotGPT consolidates dealer data with market intelligence to provide actionable, bin-level insights. Popular features, such as “Today’s Hot Prompts,” highlight common dealer queries, such as creating seven-day move-it plans for slow-selling vehicles, optimizing markdowns without increasing consumer wait times, and predicting potential inventory issues before they arise.

Broad adoption

Lotlinx is making LotGPT available free of charge to all dealerships, a move the company says is designed to empower dealers with better information without barriers. Integration is simple, and the tool can securely process dealer CRN and GA4 data to provide tailored recommendations, giving operators insights that were previously difficult to extract from disparate sources.

We all know information is power, and frankly, the right information is profit for your car dealer.”- Len Short.

Dealers using the platform during the beta phase reported using it multiple times daily to make tactical decisions and improve efficiency. The AI can even guide human operators on when to hold pricing, predict high-performing vehicles, and support overall dealership operations.

Looking ahead

LotGPT is expected to expand in functionality based on dealer feedback, potentially assisting with training, incentive programs, and other operational decisions. Lotlinx also anticipates working with OEMs to enhance inventory management and provide data-driven support at the manufacturer level.

As the automotive retail industry becomes increasingly data-driven, LotGPT aims to give dealerships a competitive advantage. By turning complex information into clear, actionable insights, Lotlinx seeks to make every dealership operator more effective and profitable, reinforcing the value of AI as a strategic tool rather than a replacement for human expertise.

Dealers interested in accessing LotGPT can visit lotgpt.com or lotlinks.com/lotgpt to sign up.
