General Motors is reviving the Chevrolet Bolt for the 2027 model year, bringing back the affordable EV that made its predecessor a market favorite. The launch model, the 2027 Bolt LT, starts at $29,990 including destination fees, with a later model priced at $28,995. The Bolt will offer an estimated 255 miles of range and is expected to ship to customers in early 2026 as a limited-run model.
The 2027 Bolt combines affordability with advanced EV technology. It is powered by the in-house X76 electric drive unit, optimized for efficiency, energy savings, and cost reductions. The permanent-magnet motor uses minimal rare-earth materials, while segmented magnets and silicon carbide inverters reduce heat and energy loss. Blended regenerative braking further improves efficiency, with energy returned to the battery whether or not One-Pedal Driving is engaged.
The EV introduces a host of new features, including a native NACS charging port compatible with fast DC chargers up to 150 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in 26 minutes. Vehicle-to-Home bidirectional capability allows the Bolt to provide power to homes when paired with GM Energy systems.
The interior has been redesigned for driver convenience and comfort, featuring an 11.3-inch infotainment screen with Google built in and an 11-inch driver information display. Super Cruise driver-assistance technology integrates with Google Maps for hands-free driving on compatible roads. Multiple USB-C ports, wireless phone charging, and enhanced infotainment apps offer additional convenience and entertainment options.
The 2027 Bolt is offered in a new RS trim, with unique exterior styling and interior accents. Standard safety and driver-assist features include Intersection Collision Mitigation, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking.
Chevy positions the Bolt alongside the Equinox EV as a key player in its affordable EV portfolio. Combined, the two vehicles are expected to drive most of Chevrolet’s 2026 EV volume, reinforcing GM’s strategy of offering accessible, long-range EVs without compromise.
The 2027 Bolt will be assembled at GM’s Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas.
