Cox Automotive completes acquisition of Bel Air and Tallahassee Auto Auctions and welcomes 450+ new team members

Milestone marks Manheim’s first auction addition in nearly 25 years.
Cox Automotive

ATLANTA – August 18, 2025 – Cox Automotive today announced it has officially closed the acquisition of Bel Air Auto Auction near Baltimore, Maryland, and Tallahassee Auto Auction in Tallahassee, Florida. This bold move marks Manheim’s first auction addition in nearly 25 years—further cementing Manheim as the world’s largest wholesale marketplace as it celebrates its 80th anniversary.

“This is more than an acquisition—it’s a celebration of progress, people, and possibility,” said Grace Huang, president of Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions. “These locations bring strong local roots, decades of service excellence and a commitment to clients’ success. We look forward to shaping the future of automotive auctions together.”

Strategic Growth: Bridging Markets and Building Relationships

With the addition of these locations, Manheim’s unrivaled nationwide network now boasts more than 80 operating locations across the U.S., covering more than 6,500 acres and serving the evolving needs of automotive clients coast to coast.

  • Bel Air Auto Auction—now Manheim Maryland—enhances Manheim’s footprint in the high-demand Mid-Atlantic market and joins the Manheim Fredericksburg Market Center led by Craig Amelung.
  • Tallahassee Auto Auction—now Manheim Tallahassee—becomes Manheim’s 12th Florida location, filling a critical geographic gap, and joins the Manheim New Orleans Market Center led by Jeff Modjeski.

Together, these auctions handle consignments from new and used car dealers, business fleets, public agencies and more—delivering storage, transportation, digital sales, reconditioning and a wide array of value-added services.

Team Expansion: Welcoming 450+ New Colleagues

As part of this milestone, approximately 450 talented team members are now part of the Cox Automotive family. Their local expertise, passion and dedication will ensure a seamless integration and continued high-quality service for clients.

“We welcome our new team members as they join the Cox Automotive family today,” added Alan Lang, senior vice president of Physical Services and Auctions at Cox Automotive. “We’ve always believed that growth is powered by people, and these new team members will help drive our next chapter of innovation and service.”

Commitment to Clients: Service, Innovation, and Scale

For clients, this acquisition means greater access to inventory, more opportunities to source vehicles close to home and the continued excellence they have come to expect from Manheim. The company remains laser-focused on delivering a connected, seamless wholesale experience—bringing together digital innovation and physical presence to meet the industry’s evolving needs, from EVs to fleets and beyond.

With transition plans already underway, existing clients can expect business as usual in the near term, with the same regular sale days and the high level of support that has always been the hallmark of these great locations. Manheim will bring its full suite of technology to both locations in the coming months as the team works to fully integrate Manheim Maryland and Manheim Tallahassee into its broader network.
