2026 Genesis Electrified G80 | Car and Driver

The Genesis Electrified G80 has received a significant upgrade, propelling it to flagship status with a new design, extended range, and enhanced luxury features. Unveiled at the Busan International Mobility Show in June, the 2025 model offers a refined driving experience and elevated comfort for both drivers and passengers. The refreshed electric sedan reflects Genesis’ commitment to combining luxury with sustainability.

With the addition of a fourth-generation 94.5 kWh battery, the new G80 Electrified now boasts an impressive range of up to 295 miles (475 km) in Korea, marking a notable improvement over its predecessor. Genesis has also focused on enhancing driving dynamics, adding an Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) and active rear-wheel steering (RWS) for better handling and a smoother ride. Upgraded front and rear bush specifications contribute to overall ride quality, making the G80 even more competitive in the luxury EV market.

The exterior has undergone a striking redesign, highlighted by a new Genesis crest grille with a gradient G-Matrix pattern and a larger air intake. This bold update is complemented by adding signature double-line headlamps featuring advanced Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, enhancing the sedan’s sleek appearance. The charging door, integrated into the grille, now offers electric opening and closing, heating functions, and interior lighting for added convenience.

Genesis has also extended the G80’s wheelbase by 130 mm, bringing it to 3,140 mm, significantly enhancing interior space. Rear passengers benefit from 995 mm of legroom—83 mm more than the previous model—along with increased headroom. Inside, the cabin offers a high-level luxury experience, featuring a quieter ride with Active Sound Design (e-ASD) and premium materials. At the heart of the interior is a 27-inch OLED infotainment and driver display, which can be split into multiple screens for greater functionality. A 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Dolby Atmos further elevates the in-cabin experience.

Key interior upgrades include:

  • Fingerprint authentication.
  • Heated front seat console armrests.
  • A passenger seat posture memory system.
  • Three-zone climate control.

Genesis introduced its new “Chauffeur Mode,” optimizing torque and suspension settings for an ultra-smooth ride, along with “Chauffeur Brake Mode” for improved braking performance. Rear passengers are treated to VIP seating, with luxury features like an electric door curtain, one-button rear door control, and a smart rear entertainment system.

Starting at approximately $66,900 in Korea, the updated Genesis Electrified G80 is positioned as a top-tier luxury sedan. The model will roll out to Europe and North America after its launch in Korea. In the U.S., the 2024 G80 starts at $74,375, with an EPA-estimated range of 282 miles. The updated version is expected to slightly increase this range to around 290 miles.

Genesis officials describe the upgraded Electrified G80 as their “most Genesis-like electric vehicle,” delivering a seamless blend of performance, luxury, and sustainable technology that sets a new standard in the luxury EV market.
