Volkswagen is offering a significant $13,000 discount on its 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S Plus with a new lease deal, reports Electrek. This pricing strategy coincides with the automaker’s plan to launch a new range of electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, the ID.4 emerged as the fourth best-selling EV in the United States, witnessing an impressive 84% sales increase from 2022.

The base price of the ID.4 is $38,995, making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs on the market. The standard range model has a 62 kWh battery, providing up to 209 miles of range. On the other hand, the more powerful 82 kWh battery version in the ID.4 Pro can achieve up to 275 miles on a single charge. The vehicle’s propulsion comes from a rear electric motor that produces 201 hp, but the all-wheel-drive (AWD) ID.4 Pro models increase the power to 295 hp and offer up to 255 miles of range.

Volkswagen has announced that “most” of its 2023 and 2024 ID.4 models will be eligible for the full $7,500 EV tax credit, specifically those with SK On battery components made in the U.S. This incentive aligns with VW’s plan to make space for its forthcoming electric models, reinforcing the ID.4’s position as a competitive and attractive option in the growing EV market.

VW has confirmed that ID.4 models using SK batteries alone are eligible, but the LG batteries for the 2024 versions are not. This announcement coincides with VW’s efforts to make space for upcoming electric vehicles, including the longer-range ID.4 model for 2024, the ID.7, and ID Buzz.

This new leasing agreement means that the ID.4 AWD Pro S Plus, previously priced at $54,445, could now start at just $41,445, less than the ID.4 S and ID.4 Pro.
