Chevy teases new Equinox with more customization, advanced tech

General Motors has revealed a modernized Chevrolet Equinox SUV with more external customization options and a re-vamped interior
General Motors has revealed a modernized Chevrolet Equinox SUV with more external customization options and a re-vamped interior.

2025 Equinox RS, Chevrolet

General Motors has revealed an upgraded version of its Chevrolet Equinox SUV with modernized technology and a re-imagined design.

The 2025 Equinox, slated to arrive later this year, features a more rugged, outdoors-ey aesthetic than previous iterations while measuring 2.3 inches wider than the 2024 model. “This generation of Equinox has taken on a broad-shouldered, athletic appearance that conveys confidence and versatility,” commented Chevy executive design director Phil Zak in a press release. The SUV is powered by a 1.5L Turbo engine with an output of 175 horsepower and a towing capacity of up to 1,500 pounds.

General Motors has also expanded the number of trim options available to buyers with an all-new tier called ACTIV. “We leaned into distinct appearances and material selection for LT, RS, and ACTIV so everyone can see themselves in an Equinox,” Zak continued. The ACTIV trim is even more outdoors-centric with its own color theme, embroidered logo, and vertical grille inserts. The 2025 Equinox features standard 17-inch wheels, with up to 20 inches available for the RS trim. The LT edition’s grille comes in chrome or glossy black.

The new Equinox will launch with a variety of technological upgrades, including two distinct screens: an 11-inch driver information display and an 11.3-inch infotainment center. The latter is 30% larger than the previous model and features built-in Google services alongside other apps and tools. The SUV also comes equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, a driver-assistance system featuring automatic emergency braking, collision alerts, and lane keep assist.

General Motors has yet to announce a price for the 2025 Equinox but will likely release more details in the coming months as it prepares for the 2024 launch.
