Following the announcement that both Ford and GM will adopt Tesla’s NACS connector in future electric vehicles in North America has sent gaining support from other companies, primarily charging stations, manufacturers, and operations.

It is important to note that the announcement made by Ford and GM will result in a domino effect that should result in the NACS becoming the official standard connector for EVs in North America.

Despite no other automaker announcing its support, charging station companies quickly jump on board. Companies such as:

  • ABB
  • Blink Charging
  • EVgo
  • FLO
  • Tritium
  • WallBox

ChargePoint is the latest to say that it will soon have NACS connectors on its DC fast chargers:

The award-winning Home Flex (AC), Express 250 (DC), Express Plus (DC), CPF50 (AC), and CP6000 (AC) from ChargePoint all have modular connectors for customer preference and serviceability. These items will soon have a NACS connector option from ChargePoint, and chargers that have already been serviced can have affordable field updates. Existing clients can feel secure that their money is preserved because of this strategy.

On the other hand, Stellantis confirm that it’s “evaluating“ Tesla’s NACS connector, but the automaker doesn’t seem ready to commit. It will, however, continue to work with third-party charging companies.
