Penske Truck Leasing places order for 750 Ford’s E-Transit vans

On Monday, Penske Truck Leasing said it had placed an order for 750 of Ford’s electric transit vans that will likely be offered for both short-term rental and long-term leasing agreements across the United States. Penske’s President Art Vallely said his company is “excited” about the new vehicles and “continue[s] to expand and diversify [its] fleet of electric vehicles and to offer new options for customers seeking more sustainable choices when it comes to transportation.”

Penske said initial deliveries of the E-Transit vans would be made in Southern California in the coming weeks, and subsequent deliveries will be distributed to other areas of North America later this year. Ford’s vans are the first light-duty electric cargo vans offered in Penske’s fleet.

Ford executive Kumar Galhotra said, “E-Transit is a testament to the fact that a commercial electric fleet is no longer a vision of tomorrow, but a productivity-boosting modern reality.”

Two models of the E-Transit van are available, including the base Cargo trim, which starts at $47,185, and the Extended Cargo trim, which starts at $52,690. Last month, Ford also said that it aims to release four additional models within the next two years. Ford has already begun delivering the E-Transit van in some regions of Europe, and U.S. production is completed at the automaker’s Kansas City Assembly Plant.
