2024 LA Auto Show highlights the value of auto shows in the industry

The 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show highlights the enduring value of auto shows as vital platforms for automakers, dealers, and consumers to connect and engage.

The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the nation’s most prominent and influential auto shows. This year, it will occur from Friday, November 22, to Sunday, December 1.

The 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show has been an exciting event so far, with automakers rolling out their latest models and concepts.

Hyundai made a huge impact with the global debut of its IONIQ 9, an all-electric midsize crossover SUV, while Volkswagen introduced the highly anticipated third-generation Tiguan.

Kia also turned heads, revealing the high-performance EV9 GT and a refreshed EV6 GT.

While some automakers, like Honda, Toyota, Ford, and General Motors, didn’t have any new releases, they still put on a strong showcase, bringing their entire lineups to the convention center to give attendees a chance to get up close with the latest models and special editions.

Hyundai and Kia continue to lead the charge in the electric vehicle space, while Tesla’s rare appearance with its Cybercab concept added some extra buzz.

The LA Auto Show remains a key event where automakers and consumers can connect, with brands offering a unique opportunity to see the latest innovations and experience the future of the automotive industry firsthand.

Auto shows play a vital role in the automotive industry, benefiting automakers, dealers, and consumers alike. Cox Automotive research shows that over 10 million consumers attend at least one auto show each year. This makes auto shows a key platform for automakers to showcase their latest models and increase brand visibility. They are especially valuable for direct-to-consumer brands like Rivian and Lucid, which have limited locations for test drives.

7 out of 10 attendees are in the market for a new vehicle, and 40% are open to considering new brands. A 2020 Cox study found that consumers prefer abrand experience, with guided tours of vehicles by product experts, over visiting traditional dealerships. Auto shows meet this need, offering a hands-on, low-pressure environment where consumers can explore potential purchases without sales pressure.

Auto shows also provide valuable opportunities for dealers. Attending allows them to get a firsthand look at upcoming models, specifications, and new technologies. This knowledge helps them inform and engage customers, improving sales strategies and customer service. Additionally, auto shows offer excellent networking opportunities for dealers to connect with manufacturers and industry experts, keeping them up-to-date on market trends and consumer preferences.
