- Dealers will update affected vehicles free of charge, with Toyota notifying owners by mid-November for infotainment issues and October 20 for EV defroster fixes.
On Thursday, September 11, Toyota issued a voluntary recall involving over 590,000 vehicles in the United States.Â
The recall currently affects select Toyota Venza, Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, GR, Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, and Highlander models. The recall also touches specific Lexus LS, RX, and TX vehicles.Â
According to the automaker’s announcement, the issue revolves around a glitch with the 12.3-inch display of the instrument panel, which may fail to turn on at startup or go blank while driving. Toyota intends to notify affected customers by mid-November.Â
During a separate notice last week, Toyota issued another recall impacting nearly 95,000 electric vehicles. This recall affects certain 2023 to 2025 Toyota bZ4X, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra. The bZ4X accounts for the majority of those being recalled, with nearly 41,500, followed by the Solterra at 32,320, and the Lexus RZ with 20,502.Â
Toyota instructed dealers to halt sales of the affected vehicles produced up to mid-June, all of which are based on the same platform. According to the memo, the recall is due to faulty defrosters, which could impair visibility and pose a massive safety risk.
Dealers will update the HVAC control ECU software at no cost to owners. Further, Notification letters for the EV recall are scheduled to be mailed on Oct. 20, 2025.
