Ford recalls over 1.8 million vehicles for headlight, engine, and rearview camera issues

Two separate Ford recalls impact 83,576 vehicles over headlight and engine concerns, while additional actions affect 1.74 million vehicles for rearview camera defects.

  • Ensure affected vehicles are identified in your inventory and communicate recalls proactively to owners.
  • Schedule software updates or EGR valve repairs promptly to maintain safety compliance.
  • Monitor over-the-air updates and dealer bulletins for rearview camera remedy availability.

Ford is recalling more than 1.8 million vehicles across multiple models due to safety defects involving headlights, engine valves, and rearview cameras, federal regulators said.

A total of 35,772 2025–2026 Explorer SUVs are being recalled for a headlamp control module software issue that causes the right headlight to turn in the opposite direction of a vehicle turn. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, when navigating curves, the passenger-side light bends inward instead of following the turn, potentially increasing glare to other drivers. Ford reported no accidents or injuries related to the defect. Updates will be available over the air or at dealerships, with owner notifications expected by March 23.

Separately, 47,804 vehicles, including 2025 Ranger, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Lincoln Nautilus, and Corsair models with 1.5-, 2.0-, or 2.3-liter engines, are being recalled for an engine gas recirculation (EGR) valve issue. The defect could cause a loss of motive power at low speeds, raising the risk of a crash. A repair is still under development, and owners will be notified when the remedy is available at no cost through Ford or Lincoln dealers.

In another series of recalls affecting 1.74 million vehicles, Ford is addressing rearview camera defects. Approximately 850,000 Bronco and Edge models may experience camera shutdowns due to overheating computer modules. Another 890,000 Escape, Explorer, Lincoln Corsair, and Aviator vehicles could display flipped or inverted images on the center display while in reverse. No remedies are yet available for these issues.

This year alone, Ford has issued 17 recalls impacting more than 7.3 million vehicles, compared with five recalls affecting roughly 700,000 vehicles by Hyundai.
