First announced in beta last May, Google has now launched its specialized mobile search ads for dealers. Media writer, Ginny Marvin reports that model automotive ads and dealer automotive ads are now available.
The ads feature large-format images, performance details and links to the manufacturer’s website, nearby dealers and other information.
Some brands are already running the new ad formats for some models, like Ford and Toyota. And according to Marvin, Google says engagement rates on model automotive ads have shown to be 30 percent higher on average compared to standard text ads.
The dealer automotive ads are available to franchise and authorized dealerships in the U.S. Marvin reports that the ads include location, directions and a click-to-call button for nearby dealerships and display at the top of mobile search results. She adds that the dealer ads also integrate with the model auto ads, accessed from the dealer’s tab in those ads.
Okay, so why these specialized mobile ad units for the auto industry? Google says that half of auto searches on Google now occur on smartphones…up 51% from a year ago. Searches for pics of cars and trucks rose 37% year over year…with 80% now occurring on mobile.
