  • The 2026 RAV4 debuts Toyota’s next-generation Audio Multimedia system, featuring customizable touchscreens, improved UX, and enhanced connectivity.
  • New technology includes faster voice commands, full-screen navigation in the gauge cluster, Drive Recorder, and EV management tools for PHEVs.
  • Expanded entertainment and Remote Connect features, including SiriusXM 360L® and Spotify®, aim to improve convenience, personalization, and overall in-car experience.

Toyota is rolling out an enhanced version of its Audio Multimedia system in the all-new 2026 RAV4, America’s best-selling compact SUV, with plans to expand the technology to future models. The updated system highlights Toyota’s focus on innovation, customer experience, and quality, offering a range of features designed to make in-car technology more intuitive, connected, and versatile.

Developed in collaboration with Toyota Motor North America, Toyota Connected North America, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Woven by Toyota, the next-generation system integrates 5G connectivity powered by AT&T, faster voice assistant responses, and over-the-air updates, ensuring ongoing improvements and adaptability over time. The system retains its Automotive Grade Linux platform while leveraging Woven by Toyota’s Arene software development kit, a step toward fully software-defined vehicles.

The user interface includes customizable home screens, a Quick Control Menu, and smartphone-like touchscreens available in 10.5- or 12.9-inch sizes. Drivers can arrange widgets for navigation, audio, weather, drive modes, and connected devices, allowing for a personalized experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported.

Toyota’s Voice Assistant responds to commands such as “Hey Toyota” and natural language prompts, controlling audio, climate settings, vehicle functions, and even basic calculations. Cloud-based navigation, including real-time traffic and points of interest, is accessible with an active Drive Connect subscription, while navigation can now appear full-screen within the multi-information display behind the steering wheel.

The system also introduces Drive Recorder, which provides dashcam-style functionality using external vehicle cameras. Drivers can manually record or save triggered events, with video playback on the head unit or download via USB. For plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners, the new EV Domain allows management of charging schedules, limits, and EV routing directly from the head unit or connected Toyota app.

Remote Connect capabilities have been expanded, enabling control of lights, windows, and the trunk via the Toyota app. Entertainment options include SiriusXM with 360L, combining satellite and streaming content, and integrated Spotify streaming without using phone data.

The next-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system sets a new benchmark for connected technology, entertainment, and electric vehicle integration, reflecting Toyota’s commitment to enhancing the ownership experience through advanced software, seamless interfaces, and ongoing improvements.
