Cars.com names top electric vehicles for 2025 and 2026

Kia EV9 earns Best EV of 2025 while Chevrolet, Hyundai, Lucid, and others claim category honors
The 2025 Kia EV9 has been named Cars.com’s Best Electric Vehicle of 2025 for its performance, comfort, and usability as a three-row SUV.

The 2025 Kia EV9 has been named Cars.com’s Best Electric Vehicle of 2025 for its performance, comfort, and usability as a three-row SUV. Cars.com also selected top EVs in several categories, including two- and three-row SUVs, cars, pickup trucks, luxury, and value.

In the value category, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV stands out with a starting price of under $35,000 and an EPA-estimated range of over 300 miles. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control, and a 17.7-inch touchscreen. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) version is available for an additional $5,300, which slightly decreases the range.

For two-row SUVs, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the top choice, providing a comfortable driving experience, excellent visibility, and a smooth ride. Its 800-volt system facilitates fast DC charging, and it features a North American Charging Standard port that offers access to Tesla Superchargers.

The 2026 Kia EV9 earns the title of best three-row EV, blending SUV practicality with impressive range and acceleration. It is compatible with Tesla Superchargers, offers ample cargo space, and features usable third-row seating, surpassing competitors like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the Rivian R1S.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been awarded the designation of Best Electric Car, delivering an impressive range of 342 miles and achieving an efficiency of up to 135 MPGe. Priced under $40,000, it can fast-charge in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions.

In the luxury EV segment, the 2026 Lucid Air boasts a maximum range of 512 miles, a luxurious interior, and offers options for single, dual, and tri-motor configurations. It supports Tesla Supercharging and offers spacious passenger and cargo capacity.

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV leads the electric pickup category, providing options with nearly 500 miles of range, a towing capacity of 12,500 pounds, and a payload capability of 2,350 pounds. The Trail Boss trim boasts off-road capabilities, while also ensuring smooth handling and rapid charging via a 350-kW DC system.

Cars.com’s selections showcase the expanding variety, performance, and affordability of EVs across multiple vehicle types, enabling consumers to navigate the growing electric market.
