On Dec. 15, the National Highway of Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) U.S. Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) announced its plan to initiate a preliminary investigation into over 450,000 Nissan Rogue (2021-2023), Altima (2019-2021), and Infiniti Qx50 vehicles (2019-2021).
Several vehicle owners have reported engine failures, loss of power, engine knocking noises, metal chunks, and shavings found in the oil pans of cars equipped with the KR15DDT and KR20DDET engines.
The Japanese automaker has attempted to address these issues by revising multiple manufacturing processes. However, the ODI may need to expand the investigation.
