Stellantis presents ‘Dare Forward 2030’, a decade of evolution

Dare Forward 2030

On Tuesday, Stellantis unveiled the company’s plan for the remainder of the decade, addressing climate issues, new model releases, and a shift in how the business will be conducted. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares hosted a live presentation that detailed how the company “intends to lead the way the world moves.” At the heart of the presentation were climate goals by 2030 and 2038, new models as the brands shift to electrification, and a focused effort on being in the customer business first, rather than the car business.

In the press release, Tavares said, “Dare Forward 2030 inspires us to become so much more than we’ve ever been. We are expanding our vision, breaking the limits, and embracing a new mindset, one that seeks to transform all facets of mobility for the betterment of our families, communities, and the societies in which we operate.”

Some key goals include diversifying leadership roles to hold at least 35% women and developing an online marketplace where one-third of their sales by 2030 would be entirely online. The financial target is €300 billion (approximately $334 billion) net revenues by 2030.

Environmentally conscious manufacturing

Much of the strategy focuses on environmental manufacturing practices and fighting climate change. Tavares said in the statement, “Stellantis will be the industry champion in climate change mitigation, becoming carbon net-zero by 2038, with a 50% reduction by 2030. Taking a leadership role in decarbonization, as well as a decisive step forward in the circular economy, is our contribution to a sustainable future.”

That will require massive investment into infrastructure and methods to offset carbon dioxide production aside from vehicles and assembly.

New EVs coming for Ram and Jeep

A clear direction was laid out during the presentation where electric cars and trucks will become central to the company’s goals.

“We are setting the course for 100% of sales in Europe and 50% of sales in the United States to be battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) by the end of this decade. We plan to have more than 75 BEVs and reach global annual BEV sales of 5 million vehicles by 2030,” the press release reads.

“Today, we are thrilled to present the Jeep brand’s first-ever fully electric SUV launching in early 2023 and a preview of the new Ram 1500 BEV pickup truck arriving in 2024. Our journey is fueled by a focus on innovation and engineering excellence that will put the latest technology into all our vehicles – from the most affordable to the high-performance and luxury – all offered through the extensive product portfolio of our incredible and unique house of brands.”

Along with the EV announcements, Stellantis plans to move forward with hydrogen fuel cell technology in “large vans” by 2024, with the options coming to the US the following year. Subsequently, their FCV tech will be implemented in heavy-duty trucks. It shows that not only is Stellantis committed to electrification but has not ruled out other tech on the path to green tech.

Evolving the service industry

In addition to diversifying the workforce with women in leadership, Stellantis will work toward a smoother car buying experience in the coming years, plus aims to have the top-ranked carmakers in customer satisfaction, whether in sales or other areas like service. According to J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Customer Service Index Study scores, all of Stellantis’ North American brands rank at or near the bottom. 2022 US Vehicle Dependability Study scores show similar results.
