2023 Kia Niro EV starts near $40,000, will be available nationwide this month

Kia has announced US pricing for the upcoming 2023 Kia Niro EV, which is expected to arrive in dealerships across all 50 states starting later this month.

The 2023 Kia Niro EV will come in two trim levels: “Wind” and “Wave.” The base Wind model will have a starting price of $39,450. The higher-tier Wave model will start at $44,450.

Kia’s newer crossover, the EV6, has a base model with a smaller battery pack and a lower range than the Niro EV base model but with a starting price of $1,950 higher.

In addition to interior and exterior upgrades, the Wave will feature upgraded headlights, heated mirrors, and a power sunroof. It will also include Kia’s Vehicle-to-Load inverter system, which allows the car’s battery to power other devices. Both trim versions will include the same 64.8kWh battery.

Kia has previously announced that it wants to start producing electric vehicles in the United States by 2024 to gain access to tax credits through the Inflation Reduction Act. The Niro EV is ineligible for those credits, unlike competitor offerings like the 2023 Chevy Bolt.
