General Motors (GM) kept the U.S. sales lead in the third quarter, but Toyota cut it to 37,751 vehicles, according to GM’s and Toyota’s sales reports. GM blamed its decline mostly on a much smaller EV market and discontinued vehicles. EV sales fell about 62% from a year ago, when buyers rushed to claim the $7,500 federal tax credit before it expired in September 2025. Read More

The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) opened its 12th annual National Policy Conference Monday in Washington, D.C. The NIADA is urging Congress to add the REPAIR Act to the 2026 surface transportation reauthorization to protect access to vehicle repair data, to cosponsor the PART Act to curb catalytic converter theft, and to bring the CFPB reform bill (H.R. 10184) and the FCRA Liability Harmonization Act (H.R. 5775) to a full House vote.
