Toyota Alabama is investing up to $4.2 million in Huntsville City Schools through the Driving Possibilities initiative, a program funded by the Toyota USA Foundation with additional support from Toyota Motor North America and Toyota Financial Services. The initiative aims to expand access to quality STEM education and career pathways for students across the district.
The announcement builds on a previous $6.7 million commitment, bringing Toyota’s total Driving Possibilities investment in Huntsville to nearly $11 million.
“Toyota is assembling more than just engines in Huntsville — we’re investing in our future,” said Marc Perry, Toyota Alabama president. The new funding will support a variety of initiatives aimed at improving student learning and engagement. These include hiring a STEM coordinator for the entire school district, embedding STEM coaches in six elementary schools and two middle schools to integrate STEM concepts across core curricula, and establishing Care Closets at 10 schools through the Madison County non-profit Caring Link to provide essentials such as clothing, school supplies, toiletries, and snacks.
Additionally, Toyota is funding monthly parent engagement training sessions through the local non-profit Second Mile and supporting hands-on STEM experiences by providing Greenpower USA cars for 10 schools, giving students opportunities to learn manufacturing and project management skills.
The company’s commitment to local education builds on previous initiatives. In 2023, Toyota supported the creation of a new industrial tech program (INDTECH) at the Huntsville City Schools Center for Technology, providing high school students with a direct pathway into high-demand manufacturing careers. Driving Possibilities in Alabama has also funded teacher coaching through the New Teacher Center, a national non-profit that provides professional development for new educators.
Toyota Alabama has operated in Huntsville for nearly 25 years, assembling engines, investing in workforce development, and strengthening the local community. Driving Possibilities represents the company’s ongoing commitment to building the future STEM workforce and supporting students in accessing high-demand career paths.
