Lucid partners with NVIDIA to deliver first Level 4 autonomous EVs

The company will also use NVIDIA's AI platform to streamline manufacturing, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery times.

On the Dash:

  • Lucid plans to deliver one of the first consumer-owned Level 4 autonomous EVs using NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX Thor platform.
  • The collaboration includes AI-powered manufacturing upgrades through NVIDIA’s Industrial platform and Omniverse.
  • Lucid’s roadmap builds on its DreamDrive Pro system, evolving from Level 2-plus automation to full “mind-off” driving capability.

Lucid announced plans to deliver one of the world’s first consumer-owned Level 4 autonomous electric vehicles through a new partnership with NVIDIA. The collaboration will integrate NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX Thor platform into Lucid’s upcoming midsize models, advancing toward true “eyes-off, hands-off, mind-off” driving.

According to the company, this initiative marks a significant step in Lucid’s transition from advanced driver assistance to fully autonomous capabilities. The move follows Lucid’s earlier innovations with its DreamDrive Pro system, introduced in 2021, which recently gained hands-free driving and lane-change functions through software updates. With NVIDIA’s DRIVE AV technology, Lucid’s roadmap begins with enhanced Level 2-plus automation in the Lucid Gravity SUV and future midsize vehicles before progressing to full Level 4 autonomy.

The integration of NVIDIA’s multi-sensor architecture, including cameras, radar, and lidar, will enable advanced environmental awareness and real-time processing. Each vehicle will feature dual DRIVE AGX Thor computers powered by the NVIDIA DriveOS operating system, designed to centralize and coordinate all automated driving functions while maintaining safety and redundancy.

Lucid will also use NVIDIA’s Industrial AI platform and Omniverse to modernize production operations. The automaker plans to apply predictive analytics, digital twin simulations, and intelligent robotics to streamline manufacturing, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery times. These tools will also support factory reconfiguration and quality control as Lucid scales production of its luxury EV lineup.
