Jeep is reintroducing the 2026 Cherokee to the U.S. market with a complete redesign aimed at reversing six consecutive years of declining sales. This new model features Jeep’s first hybrid system in North America, powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine capable of exceeding 500 miles per tank.
The entry-level Cherokee has a starting price of $36,995, which includes a $1,995 destination charge. Deliveries are expected to begin toward the end of this year and early next year, with production taking place at Stellantis’ plant in Mexico.
The 2026 Cherokee is longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor, offering 30% more cargo space. Inside, the SUV boasts a technology-rich cabin equipped with Stellantis’ new Connect One services package, appealing to families and tech-savvy buyers alike.
Initially, the Cherokee was discontinued in 2023 under former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares as part of cost-cutting measures. However, this new release is part of Stellantis’ broader strategy to rejuvenate Jeep sales in a challenging market. CEO Antonio Filosa, who assumed leadership earlier this summer, emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging strong products and new launches to regain market share.
Dealers effectively market the Cherokee’s hybrid efficiency, increased interior space, and advanced technology features as key differentiators in the competitive midsize SUV segment. With competitive pricing, the redesigned Cherokee aims to attract buyers and help Jeep regain momentum in the U.S. market.
