Hyundai Motor America has donated $25,000 to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to expand its Car Seat Safety Program, which provides free car seat checks, installations, and education for families. The donation, part of Hyundai’s Hope Initiative, aims to enhance community well-being through health and safety initiatives.

“With Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Hyundai is grateful to continue empowering families with the tools they need to safeguard our youngest passengers,” said Cole Stutz, chief safety officer of Hyundai Motor North America. “Keeping children safe on the road requires more than just advanced vehicle technology—it takes awareness, education, and community action.”

Research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that properly installed car seats significantly reduce the risk of injury in crashes. However, many parents lack access to appropriate seats or unknowingly use expired or recalled models. The Nicklaus Children’s Car Seat Safety Program plays a critical role in educating families and ensuring their children travel safely.

“As the child safety and injury prevention authority in South Florida, our priority is the safety of all children in our region and beyond,” said Malvina Duncan, RN, CPN, CPSTI, CLC, community outreach injury prevention coordinator at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and coordinator of SAFE KIDS Miami-Dade County. “Thanks to Hyundai’s continued support, we can provide more families with the education and resources they need.”

Nicklaus Children’s SAFE KIDS Miami-Dade County Coalition helps prevent childhood injuries through various community programs. Its Car Seat Safety Program conducts around 225 car seat checks annually, educating over 500 caregivers and children on child passenger safety, vehicular heatstroke prevention, and proper seat installation. The hospital also accommodates children with special needs by offering specialized car seats.

Since partnering with Hyundai Hope in 2024, the hospital has expanded its reach by providing more than 100 additional car seat checks annually through community events.
The donation reinforces Hyundai’s commitment to child safety and community impact, ensuring more families have access to life-saving car seat education and resources.

Stellantis to prioritize four core brands in turnaround strategy, sources say The automaker plans to shift funding toward Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Fiat while maintaining its broader portfolio. On the Dash: Expect increased product investment and marketing support for Jeep, Ram, Peugeot and Fiat. Regional and niche brands may see reduced volume but more targeted positioning and shared platforms. Platform-sharing and rebadging strategies could affect inventory mix and model differentiation. Stellantis will concentrate most of its investment on four core brands as CEO Antonio Filosa pushes a turnaround strategy set for release May 21, according to a Reuters exclusive. The automaker has identified Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Fiat as its priority brands. It will allocate a “material increase” in funding to them, driven by their stronger global sales and profitability, marking a shift away from the company’s previous approach of distributing investment more evenly across its portfolio. Stellantis will retain its 14-brand lineup, the largest in the industry, and will not shut down underperforming marques. Instead, the company will reposition secondary brands such as Citroën, Opel and Alfa Romeo to operate in regional or niche roles. These brands will rely on shared platforms and technology developed by the core brands while maintaining distinct styling and market identity. The strategy comes as Stellantis works to regain market share in the United States and Europe while facing growing competition from Chinese EV makers. The company earlier reported a 22.2 billion-euro charge tied to scaling back its EV plans, underscoring the urgency of the strategic shift. Its market valuation has also declined significantly in recent months. To support the transition, Stellantis will expand its use of shared “multi-energy” platforms that support electric, hybrid and internal combustion (ICE) vehicles. Additionally, the company is evaluating rebadging strategies and joint development programs, including collaborations with its Chinese partner, Leapmotor. Executives and investors backing the plan expect the increased focus on core brands to improve efficiency and strengthen financial performance. Analysts say Stellantis could still consider further consolidation if results fall short of expectations.
