Hybrid demand lifts Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia in June

Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia post June 2026 sales gains, led by hybrid demand, with Hyundai and Kia setting records.

Hybrid demand lifts Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia in June

On the Dash:

  • Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia each posted double-digit percentage sales gains in June 2026.
  • Hyundai and Kia set all-time records for June, the quarter and the first half.
  • Hybrid vehicles drove growth across all four brands, led by Kia’s 187% hybrid surge.

Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia all reported June sales increases, giving the four Asian import brands a rare moment of alignment in an uneven market.

  • Toyota sold 212,793 vehicles, up 10.1%.
  • Hyundai sold 77,555 units, up 11%.
  • Subaru sold 54,909 vehicles, up 18.1%.
  • Kia sold 70,507 units, up 10%.

Hyundai’s and Kia’s results were both company records. Toyota’s June sales built on a strong second quarter, though that quarter’s growth was modest next to the monthly pace. Subaru’s jump followed a rough June a year earlier, when sales fell more than 15%, so some of the gain reflects an easier comparison rather than new ground.

Hybrids tied the four together. Toyota’s electrified sales rose 35% and made up 57.4% of total volume. Hyundai’s hybrid sales jumped 74%. Subaru’s hybrid and electric vehicles topped 20% of June sales. Kia’s hybrid sales surged 187%, led by the Sportage and Sorento. Across all four brands, hybrid demand outpaced gas-only models by a wide margin.
