General Motors’ 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck achieved a groundbreaking milestone by driving 1,059.2 miles on a single charge, which surpasses the previous EV range record of 749 miles set by Lucid earlier this summer. This real-world test occurred on public roads near GM’s Milford Proving Ground in southeastern Michigan, using an unmodified production vehicle.

The test’s success was due to a combination of advanced battery chemistry, efficient vehicle engineering, and optimized driver habits within the truck’s manual guidelines. Moreover, this achievement highlights GM’s ongoing innovation in EV technology and sets a new benchmark for electric trucks.

Initially set with an EPA-estimated range of 493 miles, the Silverado EV Work Truck engineering team positioned itself to address the top concern for buyers: range.

Here’s why it matters:

This record-setting range achievement is an effective selling point for Chevrolet dealerships, emphasizing the Silverado EV’s superior range and real-world usability. As EV adoption grows, range anxiety remains a key barrier for consumers. Yet, this milestone can help dealers reassure customers and boost confidence in electric trucks. Additionally, this milestone positions Chevrolet as a leader in EV innovation, making dealerships hubs for future-focused, high-demand electric vehicles. Dealers can leverage this accomplishment in marketing, customer education, and inventory planning to capitalize on shifting consumer preferences toward electric pickups.

Key takeaways:

  • Record-breaking range
The 2026 Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck drove 1,059.2 miles on a single charge, shattering the previous record of 749 miles.
  • Unmodified production vehicle
The test used a stock Silverado EV, with no hardware or software modifications, proving the capability of the production model.
  • Efficiency optimization
Minor driver habits and vehicle settings, like steady speeds of 20-25 mph, high tire pressure, and reduced drag, helped maximize the range without altering the truck’s core specs.
  • Real-world conditions
The test was conducted on public roads, reflecting realistic driving conditions rather than controlled lab environments.
  • Robust customer appeal
Range is the top purchase driver for Silverado EV buyers, and this milestone reienforcees Chevorlet’s leadership in electric truck performance, boosting dealer sales potential.
