Shopping is not buying: How CarJiffy turns dealer websites into 24/7 sales channels

Dealership websites stay busy long after the showroom lights go off. Buyers browse inventory, check payments, and compare trade values late into the night, but most websites cannot close the deal. They generate a lead, but the buyer still has to wait. That gap is where deals go to die. Dealers are not just losing shoppers after hours. They may be losing ready buyers at the exact moment those buyers want to move forward.

The problem is not that buyers are not online. The problem is that most dealer websites still stop them when they are ready to buy. Dealers can close that gap with CarJiffy, an automotive digital retail platform designed to transform traditional car dealership websites into full e-commerce solutions.

Joining us on this episode of Inside Automotive is Gary Ng Wai, Chief Revenue Officer at CarJiffy, who credits the platform for being built to help dealers convert website traffic into closed deals, rather than just generate another lead.

Most dealers already spend heavily to drive traffic to their website through SEO, paid search, marketplace listings, social campaigns and inventory syndication. The problem is not traffic. The problem is what happens when that traffic is ready to buy.

Shopping is not buying

There’s a big difference between shopping online and actually buying online, Ng Wai said. A shopper may browse the inventory, calculate payments and fill out lead forms, but buying closes the deal.

Buying includes:

  • valuing a trade
  • applying for credit
  • selecting F&I products
  • e-signing
  • leaving a deposit

Most dealer websites stop at shopping. Ng-Wai said that creates friction, and friction leads to lead decay, ghosting, and lost sales.

"Someone is going to buy a vehicle online tonight. The question is, can they buy it from your dealership?"

CarJiffy builds a dealer-branded e-commerce layer directly onto a dealership’s existing website. Buyers can price the deal, manage a trade-in, apply for credit, select F&I products, upload documents, e-sign, leave a deposit, and schedule pickup or delivery, all without leaving the dealer’s site.

To help dealers see the difference inside their own store, CarJiffy is offering a 60-day no-cost platform use incentive with no strings attached and no long-term commitment. The dealer keeps full control throughout the process. The customer relationship, the data, and the transaction itself stay with the dealership instead of routing through a third party.

If the transaction does not happen on the dealer’s site, someone else may own the customer, the data and the sale.

Some dealers worry that giving buyers this much self-service online cuts salespeople out of the deal, but Ng-Wai said it’s actually the opposite. Instead of a cold lead, the sales team engages a buyer who has already structured payments, entered trade details, and explored financing, a higher-intent conversation that requires less chasing.

“CarJiffy does not replace your sales team. It hands them buyers,” Ng-Wai said.

CarJiffy scales reach without giving up control

CarJiffy isn’t limited to a single rooftop, Ng-Wai said. OEMs and franchise dealer groups can license the platform to support a consistent brand experience across their network. Individual dealers still have control of the local transaction and the customer relationship.

That structure also expands how far an individual dealer can sell. CarJiffy allows buyers outside the local market to structure a deal, leave a deposit, and schedule delivery or pickup remotely. That ability grows a dealer’s selling radius without adding rooftops or headcount.

“Your next customer does not have to live five minutes from your dealership,” Ng-Wai said.

The platform also keeps the transaction on the dealer’s own website, rather than a third-party marketplace. That means the dealer owns the entire transaction from first contact to delivery.

Closing sales while you’re closed

CarJiffy’s impact shows up in real numbers, Ng-Wai said. He pointed to one dealer group that generated more than 60 online vehicle sales in four months, representing roughly $2.9 million in incremental gross revenue. Many of those sales closed, he said, while the dealership’s showroom was closed for the night.

"The point is not just to sell cars online. The point is to create a better sales process that helps dealers sell more cars faster at higher gross margins."

A structured buying flow presents value to the customer earlier and more consistently throughout the process, which creates stronger opportunities for F&I attachment. Less time gets wasted on incomplete leads, and the handoff to sales and finance teams runs more efficiently.

A structured online buying flow does more than create convenience. It gives dealers a more consistent way to introduce payment options, trade value, protection products and financing earlier in the journey. That means fewer incomplete leads, better-prepared buyers, stronger F&I opportunities and a faster handoff to sales and finance.

Dealers interested in seeing the difference inside their own store can connect with Ng-Wai directly. CarJiffy is offering a 60-day no-cost platform use incentive with no strings attached and no long-term commitment. The goal is simple: put CarJiffy on the dealer’s website, let real buyers experience it, and let the sales team see the quality of opportunities it creates before making a long-term decision.

If your website is still capturing leads instead of closing buyers, CarJiffy gives your dealership a no-cost way to test what a true 24/7 sales channel can do.
