Ford F-series and SUV sales rise in October but overall sales dip

F-Series posted its best October since 2019 and large SUVs led Ford’s gains, while EV sales fell 71%.

Ford's October sales slip as Escape and Corsair end, F-series sales rise 8.2%

On the Dash:

  • Ford sales fell 0.8% in October to 174,123 vehicles as Escape and Corsair production ended.
  • F-Series sales rose 8.2%, the best October since 2019, as production recovered.
  • Dealers face strong large SUV demand but a 71% drop in EV sales.

Ford’s U.S. sales fell 0.8% in October to 174,123 vehicles, from 175,584 a year earlier, because the Escape and Corsair are no longer in production. Deliveries for the rest of the lineup rose 6.9%, Ford said Wednesday.

F-Series sales rose 8.2% for the truck’s best October since 2019, and Ford brand large SUVs posted their best results since 2002. Meanwhile, the brand’s EV sales fell 71%.

Ford F-Series and large SUVs lead Ford’s October gains

F-Series sales rose 8.2% in October, the truck’s best October since 2019. Production rates have recovered from the aluminum shortage that followed multiple fires at Novelis Inc. last fall. Large SUV sales rose more than 25% for their best results since 2002. Explorer climbed 35% to 23,885 SUVs. Expedition jumped 57% to 8,546 SUVs, according to Ford Authority.

Maverick, Bronco and the Lincoln lineup also posted notable results.

  • Maverick rose 3.4% for an October record.
  • Bronco fell 4.8%, while Bronco Sport rose 4.5%.
  • Lincoln fell 1.6% overall but rose 35% excluding Corsair.
  • Nautilus gained 51% for its best October since 2007.
  • Aviator increased 25% for its best-ever October.
  • Navigator rose 29% for its strongest October since 2007.

EV declines pull down the total

The Escape and Corsair accounted for the overall decline. Escape sales fell 98.6% to 150 units, and Corsair sales dropped to zero. Without those two models, combined sales rose 6.9%.

Other models moved in different directions in October.

  • Ranger midsize trucks fell 27%.
  • The Mustang coupe fell 20%.
  • Transit vans rose 9.1% to 14,053 units.

EV sales declined 71% year over year to 1,355 units, including the end of the F-150 Lightning. Mustang Mach-E fell 57%, and the E-Transit commercial van fell 55%. The drop came even though October 2025 was already the first month without the federal EV tax incentive.

Dealers should plan around truck and large SUV demand

Truck and large SUV demand now drives most of Ford’s sales volume. F-Series supply has recovered, and large SUVs are selling at levels Ford hasn’t seen in more than two decades. Stores that once relied on Escape and Corsair volume now depend on other models to make up the difference. Stores carrying EV inventory face a market in which Ford’s own EV sales have fallen 71%.
