2026 Genesis G90 black edition: Luxury with a performance edge

The 2026 Genesis G90 3.5T e-Supercharged proves that full-size luxury sedans don’t have to be boring. While many flagship sedans focus purely on comfort and isolation, this one adds a layer of performance that gives it a distinct personality. It delivers the kind of refinement buyers expect in this segment, but with an edge that makes it far more engaging behind the wheel. The new Black trim, in particular, elevates the visual appeal with a bold and modern look that stands out in a crowded luxury field.

Under the hood, the e-supercharged 3.5-liter V6 produces an impressive 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, combining turbocharging with an electric supercharger for immediate response and strong acceleration. The base version of the same engine still delivers a healthy 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, but the electrified boost in this model is what sets it apart. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive comes standard, giving the G90 confident traction in all conditions. Despite its size, it moves from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds, which is quick for a full-size luxury sedan. The air suspension smooths out the road while maintaining composure in corners, striking a balance between comfort and control. Fuel economy comes in at 21 miles per gallon combined, and premium fuel is required, which is expected in this segment.

Inside, the G90 delivers on every expectation of a flagship sedan. It seats five passengers, but the experience feels more like a private lounge, especially for rear-seat occupants. The front seats are heated, ventilated, and offer massage functions, while the rear seats recline and provide an executive-style experience that rivals what you’d find in higher-priced competitors. Materials throughout the cabin are premium, with real wood, metal, and leather accents that reinforce the upscale feel. Even the steering wheel is wrapped in high-quality leather, adding to the tactile experience.

Technology is another strong point. Dual 12.3-inch displays dominate the dashboard, offering clear graphics and intuitive controls. A head-up display keeps key information in the driver’s line of sight, while the audio system impresses with a standard 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup, with an available upgrade to a 23-speaker configuration for audiophiles. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with wireless charging, ensuring the G90 stays competitive with the latest tech expectations.

The exterior design of the e-Supercharged Black trim adds a more aggressive and contemporary twist to the G90’s already elegant styling. Dark chrome accents, blacked-out window trim, and 21-inch black wheels give the car a more assertive stance. Soft-close doors add a subtle but important touch of luxury, reinforcing the attention to detail that Genesis has built its reputation on. The overall look is sophisticated, but with just enough attitude to differentiate it from more traditional rivals.

Safety remains a priority, with a full suite of advanced driver assistance features. Blind spot monitoring and a blind spot camera system enhance awareness, and the G90 includes all the expected modern safety technologies as standard equipment. Genesis continues to emphasize value as well, offering a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty along with three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.

Cargo space comes in at 12 cubic feet, which is slightly reduced in the e-supercharged model, but still usable for everyday needs. Pricing starts around $92,000 and climbs to just under $108,000 when fully equipped, positioning the G90 competitively against established luxury players like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8.

The 2026 Genesis G90 e-Supercharged blends performance, comfort, and value in a way that challenges the traditional luxury hierarchy. It delivers flagship-level refinement with a surprising amount of power and personality, making it a compelling option for buyers who want more than just a quiet ride.
