Mercedes-Benz USA and Atlanta United’s Brad Guzan help rebuild inventory for the Furniture Bank of metro Atlanta following devastating warehouse fire

Brad Guzan
  • Atlanta United soccer star Brad Guzan joined more than 700 Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) employees and their families to assemble furniture for the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, as part of the MBUSA employee Labor Day Cookout.
  • Assembled furniture will provide tangible support to families in need across the area and help replenish the furniture supply demolished in a warehouse fire in June.
  • The event was part of MBUSA’s corporate social responsibility initiative, “Driving Your Future,” which focuses on empowering the next generation.

ATLANTA, August 29, 2025–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Yesterday, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) hosted an employee cookout in advance of the upcoming Labor Day holiday. The event brought together employees and their families for an afternoon of camaraderie and community service. As part of the celebration, participants built furniture for the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, in support of local families in need. The furniture built at the event will help replenish the non-profit’s inventory following a devastating warehouse fire in June. Atlanta United goalkeeper and MBUSA brand ambassador, Brad Guzan, joined efforts, assisting with furniture assembly and leading soccer drills for children in attendance.

As part of MBUSA’s national corporate social responsibility mission, Driving Your Future, the event underscored the company’s dedication to empowering the next generation and providing a lifelong impact for the future of children in Atlanta and across the country.

“We are proud to call Atlanta our home, and MBUSA employees are passionate about supporting the communities in which we live and work,” said Adam Chamberlain, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. “The destructive fire at the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta spotlighted an urgent need, and I am proud that together with our MBUSA ambassador and community advocate Brad Guzan we ensured that when our employees gathered for a Labor Day cookout, we gathered to build the furniture that supports local families.”

In addition to assembling furniture, volunteers crafted encouraging cards for the families who will receive the new items.

“On the field, we win as a team, and it’s the same in the community,” said Brad Guzan, Atlanta United Goalkeeper and MBUSA Brand Ambassador. “It’s inspiring to see so many people come together to support the Furniture Bank and help our neighbors get back on their feet. Being here today, building furniture and kicking a ball around with the kids, is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we all work together.”

The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta provides essential home furnishings to individuals and families moving out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, and living with HIV/AIDS. By providing beds, tables, and sofas, the Furniture Bank helps turn an empty house into a home, offering stability and dignity to thousands of people in need each year.

“After the devastating fire at our warehouse, the response from the community has been truly overwhelming, and this event is a perfect example of that spirit,” said Megan Anderson, Executive Director of the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta. “To see the Mercedes-Benz USA team and Brad Guzan physically here, building the very tables and dressers our families need, is incredibly powerful. This isn’t just about replacing furniture; it’s about providing the stability and dignity that turns a house into a home.”
