Ford unveils redesigned 2025 Expedition with enhanced technology and comfort

This redesign comes as competition in the full-size SUV market intensifies.
Expedition

Ford is ramping up its efforts to stay competitive in the large SUV market by redesigning its 2025 Expedition. The new model boasts enhanced technology, increased comfort, and more refined design elements to better rival offerings from competitors like General Motors and new entrants like Jeep Wagoneer.

The 2025 Expedition has undergone essential updates, including a smoother and more modern interior and exterior design. It now features a 24-inch driver display and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, adding to its advanced convenience features. Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities, stated that these changes were based on extensive customer feedback, aiming to improve customer experiences and make trips more convenient.

Moreover, pricing for the 2025 model has not yet been released, but it is expected to be announced closer to the vehicle’s arrival in dealerships in the spring of 2025. The current Expedition lineup starts at around $55,000, with top-end models reaching $84,000. According to Ford, the average price for an Expedition currently hovers around $70,000.

This redesign comes as competition in the full-size SUV market intensifies. While Ford’s primary rival remains General Motors with its Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, and GMC Yukon, new competitors like the Jeep Wagoneer and three-row crossovers from Kia and Hyundai are also making waves. The Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, while smaller and less expensive than the Expedition, have become popular alternatives for buyers, representing the most cross-shopped vehicles against full-size SUVs like the Expedition.

Despite the increased competition, full-size SUVs have grown in the U.S. market, representing 2.7% of the market in 2024, up from 2% in 2017. According to data from Edmunds, sales in this segment reached approximately 312,500 units through September 2024.

The 2025 Expedition will offer new trim levels, including the Active, Platinum (with an “Ultimate” version), King Ranch, and Tremor models. The Tremor, which has an off-road focus, is new to the Expedition lineup but has been available on other Ford vehicles. The SUV will feature a standard version and a longer “Max” model, powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine or a high-output variant with 440 horsepower and 510 foot-pounds of torque.
