Rivian offers ‘Electric Upgrade’ discounts of up to $5k with combustion trade-ins

The Electric Upgrade promotion aims to promote the adoption of EVs by removing combustion cars from the road.

2023 Rivian R1T Dual-Motor | Car and Driver

Electric vehicle start-up Rivian is offering an “Electric Upgrade” promotion to new customers who trade in specific combustion models in honor of Earth Day.

Eligible customers can receive discounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 on an R1S or R1T EV, depending on the purchased or leased vehicle model. The offer is only available for specific vehicle models and pack combinations until June 30, 2024, as outlined by Rivian. Customers who purchase or lease an eligible R1 vehicle through Rivian’s Online Shop will also receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Rivian Adventure Network (RAN).

However, to qualify for the discount and complimentary charging, customers must trade in a relatively recent combustion model such as a 2018 or newer Audi Q5, Q7, Q8; BMW X3, X5, X7; Ford F-150, Explorer, Expedition, or Bronco (excluding Bronco Sport); Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, or Gladiator; or Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Highlander, or 4Runner.

Only one discount and one year of free charging are available for each eligible combustion vehicle trade-in.

The Electric Upgrade promotion aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles by removing combustion cars from the road and strategically targeting gas models from some of Rivian’s key competitors. To take advantage of this offer, customers must reserve their chosen configuration via Rivian’s Online Shop by paying a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. The discount will be applied as part of the transaction for the Rivian R1 vehicle.
