2024 Toyota Tacoma reaches new heights with enhanced performance

The all-new Tacoma was expressly engineered and built for the U.S. market, constructed on the same worldwide truck chassis as the Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia.
For the new generation Tacoma, Toyota engineers focused on maintaining its long history of quality, dependability, and durability.

2024 Toyota Tacoma | Car and Driver

For almost 20 years, the Toyota Tacoma has dominated the mid-size pickup truck market. The all-new 2024 Tacoma aims to redefine the standards for modern vehicles. For the new generation Tacoma, Toyota engineers focused on maintaining its long history of quality, dependability, and durability while incorporating modern technology, a sturdy look, and all-terrain performance.

Driving the brand-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma across a challenging off-road obstacle course successfully demonstrates its newly discovered capabilities. Moreover, rock-crawling is a well-known feature of Toyota’s mid-size truck, so it was inevitable that this brand-new, fourth-generation pickup wouldn’t lose out on that feature. Instead, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma exudes even more confidence when navigating uneven terrain and climbing steep inclines.

The all-new Tacoma was expressly engineered and built for the U.S. market, constructed on the same worldwide truck chassis as the Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia. In addition, the electric pickup adds several features that off-road enthusiasts will adore, and it’s made from a high-strength boxed steel ladder frame.

What vehicle types are available?

There are several 2024 Tacoma trims to choose from, including different body designs, drivetrain options, and trim levels. The base SR is available as a double cab (four doors, front and rear seats) or an additional cab (two doors, single row of seats), with the two-door model having more storage space behind its seats. In addition to the more potent 2.4-liter engine and standard amenities, the SR5 also replaces the leaf spring rear suspension on double cab vehicles with coil springs. The 6-foot bed is standard equipment on both SR levels regardless of cab type.

The completely reworked coil spring multi-link rear suspension is one advancement for the next-generation truck. The revised suspension, available on most grades, enhances Tacoma’s overall ride and handling for superb off-road or on-road manners. The 2017 Tacoma broadens the range of available powertrain combinations with two options that increase power and economy. Up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque may be produced by the 2.4-liter turbocharged i-FORCE engine.

The all-new 2024 i-FORCE Tacomas are anticipated to go on sale in December 2023 at Toyota dealerships, while the i-FORCE MAX models will follow in the spring of 2024. Starting at just $31,500, Tacoma’s Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) delivers exceptional performance at an amazing value. The MSRP for i-FORCE MAX models will be revealed closer to their release.
