New software updates have merged Rivan’s navigation with Tesla’s Superchargers

Since many people believe Tesla's Supercharger network to be the greatest DC fast-charging network in the U.S., it will be a game changer for EV owners.
navigation Superchargers

Rivian’s navigation system has been integrated into Tesla’s most recent software update as part of the automaker’s attempt to utilize a special plug in the brand’s Superchargers.

The first few Supercharger stations for non-Tesla EVs in the U.S. were eventually made available last month after years of anticipation and planning on Tesla’s part. As a new docking station for its connector at some Supercharger stations, Tesla is incorporating what it calls the ‘Magic Dock‘.

When a Tesla vehicle arrives for charging, the Magic Dock functions as a standard docking station for the Tesla connector, but when a non-Tesla EV arrives for charging, they can unlock the Magic Dock and convert it into a CCS adaptor through the Tesla mobile app.

Since many people believe Tesla’s Supercharger network to be the greatest DC fast-charging network in the U.S., it will be a game changer for EV owners. Although the integration is in its early stages, several automakers are already benefiting from these stations.

Rivian has already made available a new software update that incorporates these Supercharger sites with Magic Dock in their navigation system. It is important to note, Rivian and Tesla have extremely comparable charging strategies.

As previously mentioned, Rivian uses its own Adventure Charging network under the Rivian brand, whereas the majority of other automakers rely on third-party networks. Even so, Rivian has yet to fully install its own network, with only a couple dozen stations up and running.

Because of this, Rivian owners must still rely on third-party networks, but the addition of Tesla’s Supercharger network will be beneficial as more stations adopt the Magic Dock.
