Cox Automotive Mobility has pledged to “dramatically reduce its carbon, water, and waste impact on the environment by 2024.” The company says it will make vital strategic advancements in its fleet electrification in an attempt to meet those goals.

“Core to our Cox values, we have a commitment to do the right thing for our environment, team members, customers, communities, and country,” said Ted Coltrain, VP of Operations at Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services. “Cox Automotive Mobility is driven to lead the fleet industry in the transition to a more sustainable fleet future – we must do our part to drastically reduce carbon emissions nationwide.”

“In addition to modernizing our own fleet, we are prioritizing electric vehicle technician training and developing groundbreaking solutions to help our partners modernize their fleets,” Coltrain said.

The company aims to make at least 50% of its fleet zero carbon emissions by 2030. It has also set goals to reach zero waste by 2024 and become carbon and water neutral by 2034. The initiatives include the following:

Cox Automotive Mobility will officially launch its Advanced EV Training Center for fleet technicians at FleeTec Academy in Indianapolis in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The company will expand its conversion capabilities to modernize and refurbish customers’ inventory and combat supply chain issues. The plan will increase Cox’s ICE to EV conversion capabilities.

Cox will also drive electric fleet adoption by offering on-demand mobile charging, allowing fleet owners to decrease downtime. More than 500 Cox Automotive Mobility Service trucks are equipped with mobile EV charging capability, with 350 more ready next year.

The company is also continuing its partnership with EV Battery Solutions to solve problems related to recycling, repairing, remanufacturing, and refurbishing EV batteries.
