The State of Illinois said last week it has reinstated Carvana’s ability to do business in the state, but has imposed strict limits on the auto retailer. Earlier in the month, Carvana lost its right to conduct business in the state due to the mishandling of title transfers and other registration issues. For the time being, Carvana can sell vehicles in Illinois but is not allowed to give customers license plates or temporary registration tags.

Lucid Motors has recalled every single vehicle it has delivered so far due to potential problems with the wiring that may cause important screens to cut out and not provide information such as speed and warning indicators. The recall affects over 1,000 vehicles, and the company said it will be sending notices to owners next month. Lucid added that while it was recalling all of its delivered vehicles, only around one percent of them is likely affected by the wiring issue.

The United States Senate has officially confirmed Steven Cliff as the Head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Cliff comes to the agency after several years of experience with the California Air Resources Board and he will now be in charge of the federal agency’s $1 billion budget and its 600 employees. Cliff has said he is dedicated to reducing roadway collisions and possible fatalities that can result from them.

According to financial results released by Faraday Future last week, the EV startup only had 401 pre-orders for its luxury FF 91 sedan at the end of March. The company also reported an operating loss of almost $150 million for the first quarter, and said it is expecting further losses before it will see any sort of revenue. Faraday Future has continued to miss targets since its inception but said it still plans to start production in the third quarter.
