General Motors CEO Mary Barra is receiving backlash from several black-owned media companies for what they described as her refusal to meet with them. According to a full-page ad in Sunday’s Detroit Free Press, the black-owned media groups are asking for an hour-long zoom meeting with Barra or for her to resign from her position with GM. The ad is signed by several notable business leaders such as Byron Allen, head of Allen Media Group, and rapper/actor Ice Cube, who also co-founded Contract with Black America. In response to the ad, GM said it aspires to be the most inclusive company in the world, and that includes how it allocates its advertising expenditures.

Volkswagen is undergoing new branding for its U.S. business sector. The U.S. brand will now be referred to as Voltswagen, replacing the ‘k’ with a ‘t’. The slight change is meant to underscore the company’s massive transition to battery-electric vehicles.
