Remembering Jim ‘Alpha Dawg’ Ziegler: Automotive icon and industry trailblazer passes at 78

The automotive industry mourns the loss of Jim Ziegler, affectionately known as the “Alpha Dawg,” who passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. A stalwart advocate for automotive dealers, Jim’s career spanned over four decades, during which he left an indelible mark on the industry.

Jim’s journey in the automotive world began in the mid-1970s, quickly establishing himself as a dynamic force in sales and dealership management. His passion and expertise led him to found Ziegler SuperSystems, Inc., through which he consulted with over 15,000 dealerships nationwide. His insights and strategies were instrumental in shaping modern dealership practices.

Beyond his consultancy, Jim was a prolific writer and speaker. He penned columns for prominent industry publications. His voice resonated at numerous conferences, including 98 State Automobile Dealer Association Conventions, where he frequently served as the keynote speaker.

Jim’s relationship with CBT News was both profound and enduring. He graced our platform countless times, sharing his unfiltered perspectives and championing the cause of dealers. His interviews and discussions provided invaluable insights to our audience, solidifying his role as a trusted voice in automotive media.

At the heart of Jim’s life was his beloved wife and partner, Debbie Ziegler. Their bond was evident to all who knew them, reflecting a partnership built on mutual respect, love, and shared passion for the automotive industry.

Jim’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment to the automotive community. His teachings, writings, and advocacy have left a profound imprint, ensuring that his influence will be felt for years to come. As we remember the “Alpha Dawg,” we honor a life dedicated to elevating and defending the interests of automotive professionals everywhere.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 6, followed by a funeral service on Friday, March 7, at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
